How we build, verify, and keep this site's content up to date.
01. Where the data comes from
This site's foundation is a compiled database of OBD2 (On-Board Diagnostics) trouble codes β the standard used by virtually every vehicle manufactured since the mid-1990s to report mechanical and electronic faults. Each individual code (e.g. P0300, B2214, C1162, U0100) corresponds to a fault condition defined under the SAE J2012 standard, the technical document that standardizes what each code means and how codes are grouped by vehicle system.
For each code, we add: probable causes ordered by real-world frequency in the automotive industry, symptoms a driver would actually notice, recommended diagnostic steps, and β when the data exists and is verified β the specific manufacturer or brand family the code applies to.
02. How content is generated and verified
We use AI assistance to write and structure each page's content, always starting from verified technical data (the code's definition, real causes, and severity) as a mandatory baseline β the AI does not invent causes or invent which manufacturer a code applies to; it writes clearly and coherently from facts that are already confirmed.
We apply a technical validation process before publishing: we verify that the assigned severity is consistent with the fault type, that listed causes correspond to the actual vehicle system affected (engine, transmission, hybrid system, body, chassis, or internal communication network), and we actively correct any inconsistency we find between language versions.
03. How we classify codes
Each code is grouped into a sub-system category based on the numeric range defined by the SAE standard (for example, P00xx-P02xx codes correspond to fuel and air metering; P03xx to ignition and misfires; P07xx-P09xx to transmission, and so on). This classification is what organizes our topic hubs and the links between related codes β we never show randomly-chosen "related codes"; they always belong to the same real vehicle system.

04. Updates and corrections
This site is updated continuously: we add new codes, enrich existing pages when we obtain more specific data (for example, the exact manufacturer for a code we previously only knew was "manufacturer-specific" without further detail), and correct errors as we find them, whether through internal review or user reports.
05. What we are not
OBD2 Hub is an informational technical reference, not a substitute for professional diagnosis. The severity and diagnostic steps we show are guidance β your vehicle's actual condition depends on its year, model, mileage, and specific mechanical state. For any repair decision, especially on high or critical severity codes, we always recommend confirming the diagnosis with a certified mechanic or your brand's dealership.
